The ONE STONE BIRD MAP is a geographic information system (GIS) visualization project designed to track and analyze avian mortality across the DC, Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) area. By mapping instances of bird fatalities, this project seeks to contextualize data on avian mortality in a tangible spatial framework, highlighting significant threats posed by urban structures and domestic pets.
By submitting avian mortality data, you grant the ONE STONE BIRD MAP project permission to use, store, and display the data on our platform.
Data may be publicly displayed on the ONE STONE BIRD MAP website to provide a tangible visualization of bird mortality incidents across the DMV area. Geographic locations, date, and cause (if reported) will be displayed to ensure transparency and aid in community awareness and research.
No personally identifiable information will be displayed publicly. Submitted data will be anonymized before any display to protect individual privacy.
Data collected through the ONE STONE BIRD MAP may be used to support conservation and research initiatives, including the analysis of urban impacts on local avian populations. Aggregate data may be shared with academic, governmental, or conservation entities for non-commercial research purposes, provided that it is further anonymized to prevent identification of individual users or locations.
